"TRIGGER"

TRIGGER. We hear that word and probably associate it with "avoid". It's warning, "STAY AWAY!! TOO UNCOMFORTABLE!"
Too often we avoid what makes us uncomfortable, but in turn we reenforce the anxiety associate with that stimulus. By avoiding we relieve the discomfort, but only temporarily. We in turn become powerless in a world that will not always go in our favor.
When you have the courage to expose yourself to something that could potentially be uncomfortable you often find it's not as difficult as you assumed it would be. Or if it was difficult, you got through it. Over time minimizing the reaction and with less intensity. Being able to regulate emotions that arise in the midst of that discomfort is invaluable to moving past the fears holding you back to living an empowered life.
Like in yoga, leaning into the discomfort pushes limits and growth over time. Even if it hurts. Our fears can be the guides if you allow them. Guides to the areas you need to grow the most. But only if you'll lean in.
